5 Effective Ways to Win the Battle of Spiritual Attacks
Did you know that as a Christian, you have all you need to win the battle of spiritual attacks?
As the body of Christ, we are taught that we all have one common enemy, Satan. We are also taught that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places. Therefore, we must be ready to fight every battle that comes our way.
You may be thinking, well what exactly is spiritual warfare and how do I know I’m under attack?
Some signs of spiritual warfare include: feeling discouraged or depressed, loss of spiritual desire, physical fatigue or sickness, doubting the goodness of God, negative thoughts about life, etc.
In Ephesians 6, Paul encourages us to be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power by putting on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:14-17).
In addition to the armor of God, here are some ways to win the battle of spiritual attacks.
1. Stay close to God
It is impossible to win in this world when you don’t stay close to God. Staying close to God means reading His word daily!
The Bible tells us that man cannot survive on food alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Therefore, must treat reading the word of God as a necessity, not a luxury!
Whenever we stray from God and His word, we fall from God’s grace and our lives begin to feel empty. Straying from God also gives Satan a way back into our lives causing unnecessary trouble and pain.
2. Speak God’s word over your life
When the enemy is out seeking who he can devour, his first line of defense is to attack the mind. Satan hates God and he hates us so he will do everything that he can to keep us from the will of God.
Satan wants to destroy you so when God tells you that He will never leave you nor forsake you, Satan will tell you that God hates you and will not save you.
Therefore, it is important to speak the LORD’s word over your life so that you will not be deceived by the lies of the enemy.
In order to speak God’s word over your life, first you will have to be knowledgeable of what the word says by reading the word.
3. Remind yourself of God’s promises (Psalm 42:6)
Not only should you speak God’s word over your life, but you have to remind yourself of God’s promises to you.
God says that He has a plan for each and every one of us.
God promises to…
Strengthen you (Ephesians 3:14-16)
Give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30)
Take care of all your needs (Philippians 4:19)
Answer your prayers (Matthew 7:7)
Work everything out for your good (Romans 8:28)
Be with you (Joshua 1:5, 9)
Protect you (Psalm 91:2)
Set you free from sin (John 8:36)
Nothing can separate you from Him (Romans 8:38-39)
Give you everlasting life (John 3:16)
4. Pray
Pray, pray, pray!!! Pray when times are good, bad, or indifferent.
Pray when you don’t even know what to pray for, Jesus will intercede for you (Hebrews 7:25).
Pray when you don’t feel that it is working.
Pray for those that hate you.
Pray for those you don’t know.
Pray for strength, understanding, guidance, wisdom, to know the LORD better, etc.Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
5. Fast
Fasting allows you to hear the voice of God clearly.
It is difficult to hear God when you are distracted.
You have to disconnect from the world, you have to drown the world out and spend intimate time with God.
The biblical definition of fasting is to abstain from food for a extended period of time.
However, it is recommended that you avoid the following as well while fasting...
Social media/TV
Drugs/alcohol
Certain people
Certain places
Constant work
Fast from anything that you feel is distracting you from spending intimate time with God.
When you apply these 5 things to your life you will be prepared for any attack that the enemy tries to throw your way.
Remember to:
1. Stay close to God
2. Speak God’s word over your life
3. Remind yourself of God’s promises
4. Pray
